JCX Construction prepares sites for houses, shops, commercial buildings and outbuildings across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. A good site prep makes everything after it faster. A poor one shows up later as a pad that holds water, a drive that rutted, or a foundation crew idling.

What is in a site prep

Clearing

Brush, trees, stumps and debris out of the work area. See land clearing.

Grading and pad

The pad is cut or filled to elevation, compacted and shaped to drain. See dirt work.

Access and staging

A drive that equipment, concrete trucks and deliveries can use in wet weather, and an area to stage materials.

Utilities path

Trenching for water, sewer, drainage and conduit, timed so it happens before the final grade. See utilities installation.

Erosion control

Silt fence, a stabilised entrance and other measures that keep soil on the site. On bigger projects this ties into SWPPP compliance.

Why the sequence matters

Each step affects the next. We plan the whole sequence on one estimate so the lot goes from raw to build-ready without gaps, and so the pad is cut for the foundation your builder actually draws.

Start with a site visit

Site Preparation questions we get asked

What is site preparation?

The work that makes a lot ready for construction: clearing, rough grading, building pad, access drive, utilities path and erosion control. It is the sequence between a raw lot and the first foundation work.

Why use one contractor for site prep?

Because the steps depend on each other. Grading needs clearing finished, pads need the grade set, and drainage has to agree with both. Splitting them between companies means more waiting and more room for the next company to blame the last.

Do you work with builders and engineers?

Yes. We work to your builder's, engineer's or architect's plans and elevations. If there is no plan, we help you describe the pad and drive so the quote is clear.

Do you handle erosion control?

Yes, where it is part of the job: silt fence, construction entrances and other measures that keep sediment on site. See [SWPPP compliance](/swppp-compliance) for larger sites.

How long does site prep take?

It depends on size, ground conditions and weather. Heavy rain stops dirt work, and wet clay is not workable. We give you a realistic window on the estimate and tell you early when weather moves it.
